Nicôdî tû Dêidontâ, unscathed by his own Elemental Fire, hides two indilus roots and meets Berjer Fendênus tû Amdwol, admitting to destroying the cigar box and killing Montêusarâ Moltôlboc, who sought it for unknown reasons. Nicôdî, suspecting a link to the *Nomustên*’s manifest, tasks Sûnugar with tracking Poleen, believing she holds the box’s secret. Meanwhile, Poleen boards the *Shupûtu*, confronting Captain Selêf Nûwolu, who reveals he smuggled two indilus roots for Nicôdî. When Selêf attacks, fearing exposure, Poleen kills him in a fierce duel, claiming the ship. She recruits the crew with gems, naming Kulinuñê captain to sail for Exkemî Point. Seeking Sandorelê and Âvorê, Poleen enlists five sailors—Sevôlû, Teremulon, Refulfê, Jûntuk, Quilôn—to escort her to the Dancing Worm, spotting Sûnugar watching, her resolve to save Ezeldu and uncover the box’s mystery undeterred.
