Chapter Fifteen: Sails at Sunset[edit | edit source]

Poleen Juvukis emerges from the warehouse, shaken by Nicôdî tû Dêidontâ’s fiery massacre, and dons Montêusarâ Moltôlboc’s ruby ring. Evading Silk Devils, she’s intercepted by Hovêen tû Sedlômu, who warns her of Moltôlboc’s vengeful sons and unknown watchers, urging her to flee. Poleen, disoriented, sprints toward the *Soaring Falcon*, only to find Aprelê Guards raiding it, flogging Second Captain Lumorus, and killing a sailor. Fearing capture, she hides among crates, spotting a Umdûwor ship, possibly Captain Selêf Nûwolu’s. Desperate, Poleen bribes sailors with fifty quils for a rowboat ride to the vessel, unsure if Selêf is aboard or trustworthy. As darkness falls, she boards the boat, clutching her rapier and gems, gambling on Selêf as her last hope to evade the guard and save Ezeldu, while the Soaring Falcon’s fate remains uncertain.
