CMU Chapter 44

Chapter Forty-Four: Fiery Intent

In Aprelêu’s Warlords District, Poleen Juvukis, as Kontzulê Polênu Juvilêus, meets Nicôdî tû Dêidontâ, discussing an assassination attempt possibly orchestrated by Emeser tû Demisdôn, prompted by another’s influence. Nicôdî reveals Montô Gibelê’s presence, seeking Poleen and Ezeldu’s bodies, raising suspicions of betrayal or a Notoholis trap. Poleen negotiates for the Written Jewels, securing them for a favor, as Nicôdî lacks the Unerring Stone. He deduces her donu-honêsh cache, warning of withdrawal deaths but praising her disruption of the trade. Poleen plans a ball to lure enemies, using the donu as bait. She enlists Nicôdî to hide three amphorae in Aprelêu’s tunnels, providing maps to a neutral site and routes under Notoholis and Berjer properties, aiming to frame them. The *Soaring Falcon*’s rumored donu cargo will distract, while Poleen spreads bidding rumors through an unnamed ally. Nicôdî assigns Sûnugar to kill Relegôs tû Keldelin publicly, aligning with Poleen’s vengeance against Nedrich nâ Hilêômbrâ and Berjer Fendênus, leveraging the Compunêu Trade Consortium’s disruption and her father’s yostul ambitions.
