Chapter Thirty-Three: Snow's Eye[edit | edit source]

Ivin and Pikarn’s wardens trek through snowy Estertok Mountains to Snow’s Eye, battling icy winds and drifts. At the tower, Zjin’s Colok escort them past Shadows to face Taken, including Suvarn, in a brutal pass skirmish. Colok strength and warden blades prevail, but Modan is gravely injured by a Shadow, saved by Zjin. At Snow’s Eye, Tokodin reveals Istinjoln’s Steaming Lakes camp and the Sliver of Star, tying Shadows to Ulrikt’s plot via the Codex of Sol and Ailing Stars Prophecy. Zjin demands an Omindi ambush to stop the priests, believing they summon a Shadow king, “Zwinfolkum.” Ivin, pressured by clan blood, chooses war despite innocent deaths, sending Puxele to rally Ervinhin. Tokodin, conflicted, eases Modan’s pain with prayers, clutching poison, torn between Istinjoln’s betrayal and war’s cost, envying yet pitying Ivin’s doomed nobility.
