WoG Chapter 21
Chapter Twenty-One: Mother Secrets[edit | edit source]
Glimdrem, aboard the swift Edan ship Isebulî captained by current-tamer Nezeldun, travels with Inslok, Limereu, and a dozen Trelelunin warriors to Kaludor, marveling at the vessel’s speed. Arriving at Herald’s Watch, they witness the enduring tower of Fire, where Limereu spots a fleeting disembodied wing, hinting at the Sliver of Star’s power, though its origins remain elusive. At Choerkin Fost, the group, armed with Ikoruv blades and pikes, slaughters Taken on the docks, with Nezeldun’s rain blast vaporizing Shadows, sending a defiant message to Zwinfolkum, the Queen-Mother. Inslok reveals Zwinfolkum, once a human queen corrupted by the Dontopuor, births Shadows of Man, linked to her via a spiritual umbilical cord, knowledge withheld from Glimdrem due to his untrustworthiness after copying the Oxeum Codex. Facing Inslok’s taunt to confess, Glimdrem remains silent, learning his mission is a second chance at redemption. The group, fueled by Elemental Life, runs tirelessly to Istinjoln, arriving in days to observe the Celestial Gate, which stirs Limereu’s lost memories of banishing dark celestials. Rather than enter, they run west toward the Tomb of the Touched, where Glimdrem anticipates the skeleton’s cryptic wisdom, as Inslok confirms they await Pikarn’s Silone forces, whose plan to seize the gate remains distant. Glimdrem, grappling with his precarious status and the Edan’s secrets, braces for the tomb’s revelations, wary of Zwinfolkum’s awareness and the gate’s demonic allure.
