WoG Chapter 04

From Sundering the Gods

Chapter Four: North South North[edit | edit source]

Meliu, a high priestess engrossed in deciphering the cryptic Codex of Sol, struggles with its blend of historical accounts and elusive prophecies, frustrated by its opaque ciphers and her inability to unlock its secrets. Her studies in the Northern Flower camp are interrupted by Sedut, who reveals that Rinold and other Silone hunters were captured by an unknown people in the southern forest, prompting Ivin Choerkin to call a Circle Meet to organize a rescue. Sedut suggests Meliu join the expedition, as the Wayfinder’s map aligns with an ancient map marking Tomarok, a mysterious location tied to Ulrikt’s orders. Amid rising tensions, Meliu learns of Tek forces amassing on the northern shore, prompting her and Sedut to ride with Ravinrin warriors to Gediswon Keep. There, they encounter Polus Broldun, who confirms the Tek presence, and witness Ôlisbenar the Razer, a Malstefnê leader, declare victory over the Malôbund and display a mutilated head, claiming it belongs to a Choerkin spy. His voice, amplified by Elemental prayer, unnerves Meliu and Sedut, who suspect the head might be Ulrikt’s, though its disfigurement prevents confirmation. As Polus orders the head buried and prepares to rally the clans, Kingdomers, and Helelindin, Meliu grapples with the possibility of Ulrikt’s death and the ominous power of Ôlisbenar, fearing a new threat that could jeopardize the Silone’s precarious hold on their lands. Meanwhile, the camp at Northern Flower stirs with southward migration, driven by fear of the Tek, as Meliu contemplates her role in the rescue mission and the elusive truth of Tomarok.
