ToP Chapter 07

From Sundering the Gods

Chapter Seven: Peaceless Gods[edit | edit source]

Ivin Choerkin, accompanied by Solineus Mikjehemlut, Polus Broldun, Tudwan Ravinrin, and Lelishen, arrives at Sin Medor to negotiate the survival of the Silone refugees with the Hidreng leadership. Overwhelmed by the city’s grandeur, Ivin grapples with the weight of diplomacy, knowing a misstep could doom his people. Meeting Iro Adinfin, the Overseer of Sin Medor, under a treaty-backed truce, the group faces a tense discussion. Iro acknowledges the Silone’s plight but pressures them to alleviate Hidreng resource strain, dismissing their demon threat as irrelevant. Lelishen leverages the Edan’s influence and Hidreng’s rival neighbors to argue for peace, but Iro reveals the Bishop of Sin Medor’s prejudice against the Silone, rooted in ancient grudges against Sol’s Slavers. He offers a deal: allow Hokandite missionaries to convert Silone to Pulvuer’s faith in exchange for two months’ safety, potentially extendable to spring. Polus rejects the soul-stealing proposal, while Ivin sees its strategic necessity but fears it could fracture the clans or signal defiance if refused. With two weeks to decide, Ivin conceals his plan to visit the Eleris, maintaining a facade of unity over bread and whiskey, aware that their fragile hope hinges on navigating the Bishop’s zeal and Polus’s volatility.
