Rinold and Polus lead riders along the Mûulbon River, evading the elusive six watchers who vanish and reappear, distracting from anomalous hills. Discovering Histê remains (skulls, fabric) amid scrub, Rinold approaches the figures, glimpsing tusked, furry faces speaking unknown words before retreating. Speculating the watchers guard secrets and aren't Histê or Wiirê, they prioritize return over confrontation, reaching Endelêun after nine days to reunite with Puxele and Irose.
