WoG Chapter 28
Chapter Twenty-Eight: Snow Blind Kin edit
Kinesee, orchestrating a deceptive departure from Rôemhîik, spreads rumors of riding south to Forest’s Gate for safety, masking her true mission to Holelorin. Accompanied by Polus Broldun, Bîdorik Gorshtim, and 4,000 warriors, she secretly splits off under a moonless night with 120 trusted Choerkin and Ravinrin scouts, led by Tîmik Jôlvar, to find Lelishen and secure Helelindin aid (Ch. 17, 20, 25). After ten days of rugged travel, they locate a road to Holelorin, detouring to Melôjer, a Helelindin village, where Kinesee, in diplomatic garb, seeks Lelishen. Facing wary archers, she convinces Sololu Felihol with her Edan fluency and honesty, learning Lelishen is at Nosuperelôn, a mountain village named for snow-blind sun reflections. Riding alone with Sololu for three days, Kinesee reaches Nosuperelôn, reuniting with Lelishen and meeting her year-and-a-half-old brother, Veldehar, whose Silone features and Trelelunin eyes enchant her. Kinesee reveals the Malstefnê threat, Rinold’s captivity, and her plan to negotiate Helelindin pilgrimage rights to the Final Foundation, hoping to rally the Eight Kingdoms (Ch. 17, 25). Despite Lelishen’s doubts, citing Helelindin reluctance due to ancient wars, Kinesee leverages Solineus’s Mulshahar trade ambitions (Ch. 6, 25) and Veldehar’s safety, persuading her to assist in swaying the Helelindin king. With Lelishen’s reluctant agreement, Kinesee’s diplomatic mission gains a vital ally, balancing personal joy with the urgent need to avert Silone extinction.
