Chapter Eleven: Archiver's Work edit

Glimdrem, a Trelelunin scholar, completes a meticulous copy of the Oxeum Codex using self-crafted Archival Parchment, a process that took over a year due to the need for precision to preserve potential ciphers. Haunted by the codex’s indecipherable Oxeridinun language, he returns it to Uvin’s chambers, concealing his actions from the Edan. Tormented by the codex’s secrets and his inability to trust even Lelishen, Glimdrem dreams of the Blind Monkey statue, convincing himself it hides the codex. He presents this theory to Fesele, the Lord Chancellor of Knowledge, and her sister Limereu, claiming the Latcu-Ikoruv needle is a key. Despite Fesele’s possession of the needle—raising Glimdrem’s fear of exposure—he successfully opens the statue, revealing the Oxeum Codex, identified as volume 733–735 of a larger collection from the Toltorûoc calendar, near the God Wars’ end. Fesele, fluent in Oxeridinun, denies Glimdrem full translation access but grants him presence at the codex’s opening and insights on Celestial Gates. As Glimdrem navigates Fesele’s probing questions about archival residue, Inslok interrupts, summoning him and Limereu to join a mission to Choerkin Fost on Kaludor, ordered by the Volvrolan to aid the Silone against demonic threats. Limereu, who once banished the Lôdôkohoxi-kê demon, agrees to go, hoping to recover lost memories that could reveal how to seal Celestial Gates. Glimdrem, thrilled yet paranoid about Fesele’s suspicions, departs to prepare, torn between the allure of Kaludor’s mysteries and the fear that his codex theft may unravel, with the Touched’s cryptic voice mocking his precarious position as a “poisonous frog” evading the Edan’s scrutiny.
