Committing to deliver the indilus roots to Umdûwor, she aims to cement her reputation. As the ship nears Horsemen’s Coast, Poleen climbs the crow’s nest, spotting twelve flagless ships—Gorô and Korômonê—searching for a shipwreck or survivor, their purpose unclear, raising tension among the crew.
