Chapter Seventeen: Dancing Worm[edit | edit source]

Poleen Juvukis, disguised as Contessa Polênu Juvilêus, leads her Umdûwor crew—Sevôlû, Teremulon, Refulfê, Jûntuk, Quilôn—to the Dancing Worm tavern in Aprelêu’s Marlin District, seeking Sandorelê and Âvorê. A dancer, Yulûlê, lures her through a secret passage to a hidden room where she reunites with Sandorelê, Âvorê, and later Isidorus. Learning the *Soaring Falcon* is seized, Poleen reveals Montêusarâ Moltôlboc’s death by Nicôdî tû Dêidontâ and her hiring of the *Shupûtu* after killing Captain Selêf. Sandorelê plans to smuggle them via the *Lady Lêu* to Exkemî Point, using a decoy chase to divert the Aprelê Guard. Isidorus explains Ezeldu’s impending “olômorus dû Nettîn,” a public shaming tour, offering a chance to free her from a stockade. Poleen, determined, agrees to hide, locate Ezeldu, and seize the opportunity, despite the risks.
