SoM Chapter 01

= Chapter One: What Comfort the Stars? =On the 15th of Beldrên, 507th Year of Remembered Time, Ieru, a girl frozen at seven in the starlit dome of Skywatch, yearns for sunlight and growth. Trapped on Kaludor under the influence of the Evil Queen, she lives with her aunt Niseem, haunted by memories of her late grandmother, High Oracle Meris. Defiant, Ieru sneaks into the Shower of Stars, where the latchu floor sings with her steps. There, she meets Eliles, the so-called Evil Queen, whose beauty and sincerity unsettle her. Eliles reveals Meris’s mysterious death at Herald’s Watch and offers Ieru a chance to see the outside world. Tempted, Ieru follows Eliles through a hidden staircase, her elemental magic illuminating the way. Stepping into Kaludor’s blinding daylight, Ieru confronts a world that may have aged without her.
