Chapter Thirty: Bitter Lessons

In Mostul Ûbar, Poleen Juvukis, as Kontzulê Polênu Juvilêus, thrives in noble society, mastering culture and politics under Konlul Nobûn and Mulôs Teverish. Yearning to sail north for vengeance against Nedrich nâ Hilêômbrâ and Berjer Fendênus, she’s delayed when The Undaunted returns, as Boborun emissaries—Lord Captain Ushtrûôk, Captain Nokshubîr, and Captain Karlbirîm—demand House Juvilêus confirm they don’t harbor pirate Nozodrôk Belên, suspected in Lultûhol. At the Tomorgod-dû, Ushtrûôk questions Poleen’s indilus dealings, which she deflects, citing Sandorelê’s role. The Juvilêus sign a non-harboring agreement, unaware of Belên’s full aliases. Ushtrûôk hints at Lultûhol’s yostul’s death delaying extradition, proposing House Kandevor’s candidate to sway Juvilêus influence. A mysterious Lôlharn Zjûdwô whispers to unsettle the Boboruns, revealing their volatility. Poleen, intrigued by Belên’s crime and Lultûhol’s politics, learns Âvorê’s sevidên status is under review, delaying her Aprelêu plans. She resolves to leverage the Written Stones and cigar box’s secret, balancing her father’s yostul ambitions with her deadly quest.
