ToP Chapter 66
Chapter Sixty-Six: What the Monkey Saw[edit | edit source]
Glimdrem, accompanied by Tilsferu under Chancellor Fesele’s orders, searches Uvin’s study for the Oxeum Codex, fixating on a yellow jade monkey statue with missing eyes, suspected to be from the Temple of the Blind Monkey. Distracting Tilsferu with tales of Sutan’s gods, Glimdrem discovers a seam in the monkey’s eye, using a Latcu needle and Ikoruv ball to unlock a hidden compartment containing a hide-bound book, likely the Oxeum Codex. His pride leads him to reveal the find, but a vision of Uvin’s voice and a whispering vine urge him to kill Tilsferu to reclaim his forgotten past. Overwhelmed, Glimdrem uses Spirit and Life to render her unconscious, erasing her memory of the Codex instead of killing her, haunted by visions of Lelishen in Tilsferu’s face. Tilsferu, awakening, recalls only a trap and kisses Glimdrem, influenced by his manipulation, as the vine ominously approves. Glimdrem, torn by guilt and fear of Edan retribution, leaves the Codex hidden, uncertain of his actions’ consequences.
