Chapter Forty-Five: Sailing to Fire[edit | edit source]

Solineus Mikjehemlut, aboard the Luxun merchant ship Entiyu Emoño, grapples with the sight of a Tek fleet attacking New Fost, as smoke rises from burning Silone ships. Despite Captain Intœño’s reluctance, Solineus, driven by Kinesee’s telepathic cry, demands they sail through the Tek armada to reach shore. The Luxuns’ wind manipulation and Inslok’s glowing presence deter most Tek attacks, though a collision and boarding attempt by Thonian sailors test their resolve. Glimdrem, tasked with informing the Eleris Edan of the invasion, kills a Tek boarder in a rush of combat, bonding with a Dara sailor, Uumboyo, as the ship escapes to the Eleris. Meanwhile, Solineus and Inslok row to New Fost’s shore, where Solineus, guided by an instinctive connection to Kinesee, sprints through the chaotic beachfront, briefly colliding with Ivin Choerkin. Locating a guarded wagon, Solineus unleashes the Twins, swiftly killing five hooded Silone traitors wielding Tek weapons, and slashes open the wagon’s canopy, poised to rescue Kinesee. The chapter blends naval tension, visceral combat, and Solineus’ desperate mission, highlighting the escalating Tek invasion and his unbreakable bond with Kinesee amidst a backdrop of betrayal and slaughter.
