Chapter Fifty-Four: Witnesses Three[edit | edit source]

In Aprelêu’s undercity, Poleen Juvukis, as Kontzulê Polênu Juvilêus, guided by Nicôdî tû Dêidontâ, intercepts Berjer Fendênus tû Amdwol’s men moving the donu-honêsh cache. With Âvorê, Hovêen tû Sedlômu, Modû Nosohûm, and Silk Devils, she witnesses Fendênus order the execution of the bearers to conceal his smuggling. Captain Humkil and the Aprelê Guard intervene, but Fendênus attempts to bribe and intimidate them. Poleen, Hovêen, Turpin, and Lindus testify as noble witnesses, affirming Humkil’s account, leading to Fendênus’s arrest for donu smuggling, punishable by hanging. Poleen taunts Fendênus, revealing her identity as Poleen Juvukis and promising a torturous execution, avenging Ezeldu’s murder. Tû Dêidontâ, observing, confirms the donu’s movement and Sûnugar’s presence, ensuring Poleen’s trap succeeds. With the Compunêu Trade Consortium and Notoholis Aprelêu disrupted, Poleen secures Nicôdî’s Written Jewels and advances her path to Notoholis access, fulfilling her vengeance against Nedrich nâ Hilêômbrâ and Fendênus while aligning with Kontzûl Emerotô’s yostul ambitions, despite lingering threats.
