Poleen Juvukis, as Contessa Polênu Juvilêus, hones her swordplay with Master Voluhîn Chubân at the Rainbow and Swan, awaiting a meeting with Montêusarâ Serelê tû Moltôlboc. After a month, Sandorelê arranges it at the inn, but Serelê demands the cigar box, revealing the indilus roots’ need for special soil, undermining their value without it. Poleen, rattled by Serelê’s knowledge, feigns disinterest and leaves with two roots. Serelê’s guards seize Sandorelê, prompting Poleen and Âvorê to track them to the docks. Spotting the captain under attack, Poleen bribes Silk Devils, led by Hovêen tû Sedlômu, to intervene. Her rapier drawn, she bluffs the guards into releasing Sandorelê, who confirms Serelê’s fixation on the box, not the roots. Safe aboard the *Soaring Falcon*, Poleen plans to reveal the donu-honêsh’s secret, seeking a new buyer to free Ezeldu.
