Conjugation Patterns
Silonê verbs do not conjugate for person, using the same form for all subjects (e.g., Skêl for "I strike," "you strike," "they strike"). They are modified by suffixes and prefixes for tense, aspect, and other nuances, as outlined in Silonê Grammar and Syntax. Below are the standard conjugation patterns:
- Tenses:
- Present: Base form (e.g., Skêl – strike/strikes).
- Past: Suffix -ad (e.g., Skêlad – struck).
- Future Intent: Suffix -thâr (e.g., Skêlthâr – will strike, stronger than auxiliary Wil).
- Aspects:
- Epic Tone: Suffix -ak for heroic/formal tone (e.g., Skêlak – I strike, heroic).
- Progressive: Suffix -vîsk (e.g., Skêlvîsk – is striking).
- Perfect: Auxiliary Hav + prefix ge- (e.g., Hav geskêl – have struck).
- Habitual: Suffix -ârkh (e.g., Skêlârkh – always strike).
- Completed: Suffix -vêdh (e.g., Skêlvêdh – just struck).
- Past Participle: Suffix -khûnd (e.g., Skêlkhûnd – having been struck).
- Modifications:
- Negation: Prefix Nêk- (e.g., Nêkskêl – not strike).
- Causative: Prefix Sûl- (e.g., Sûlêdh – make eat).
- Reversal: Prefix Nêv- (e.g., Nêvskêl – unstrike/restrain).
