Chapter Seventy-Three: Share and Share[edit | edit source]

Solineus, exhausted but triumphant, stumbles into Camp Zjindinfôk after retrieving Hîmr’s Coin, a heavy, golden Timôu disc with a violet flower and lightning-warhammer symbols, astonishing Morik, who confirms its immense value and danger. Advised to guard it with the Twins, Solineus recounts the summit’s deadly breezes—possibly an air te-xe or Hîmr’s lingering influence—barely survived through luck and the Lady’s aid (unmentioned). Descending through Camps Îrginhîn, Ûlf-Hôtindîn, and Nelflûk, they reach the Temple of Arumbor, where Seblêsu, Lady of the Mountain, hails Solineus as the "Survivor of Hîmr’s Breath" during a feast. She requests vellum rubbings of the coin, revealing her theft of its detachable backside during the process. A chaotic attack by gold-masked assailants disrupts the feast, aiming for the coin, which Solineus nearly loses in the stampede until a young girl returns it. Discovering Seblêsu’s betrayal, Solineus and Morik pursue her through the Eight Ways, a network of escape tunnels, but find only hoofprints in the snow, indicating her escape with a lead too great to overcome without preparation. Resolving to deliver the remaining coin to the Ironwing and reclaim the stolen half later, Solineus convinces a reluctant Morik to join the quest, leveraging their camaraderie.
