Chapter Sixty-Two: The Raging Shore

Ivin oversees the defense of the Tarmujon tributary, directing archers and spearmen against three thousand Malstefne footmen, initially repelling them with arrows and Sedut’s artifact, which slaughters crossbowmen. The Malstefne retreat, but a lone armored rider, immune to arrows, triggers a Wyvern’s Fire explosion, devastating the shield-wall and Sedut, followed by a second rider’s blast, forcing a Silone rout. Ivin, with Leto, flees, pursued by Malstefne cavalry. At the Gediswon ford, Meliu, Kinesee, and Eredin prepare the caravan’s crossing, learning of the Tarmujon victory before horns signal the rout. Meliu, defying Eredin, charges to rescue Ivin, wounded by an arrow, and Leto, unleashing a massive Dark wall that disrupts the cavalry. Eredin and Sedut’s interventions save Meliu from a lance, but Eredin dies, speared, while Polus and Sedut protect the retreat. The Silone cross the Gediswon, mourning Eredin and bracing for potential pursuit, unaware of Solineus’ progress with the stonebreakers.
