Chapter Fifty-Nine: Spear's Tip[edit | edit source]

The Silone, on day 102 of their migration, reach the Dinsang Bridge over the Porro-ok River, a fortified Malstefne stronghold just outside the Blooded Plain. Ivin, Solineus, Meliu, Sedut, and clan-blood devise a ruse to avoid a siege, with Ivin offering Meliu and Sedut as "gifts" to Lord Sevin to gain entry. Inside the tower, the priestesses, stripped and humiliated, bide their time. Sedut uses a glowing diamond artifact to behead Sevin, amplifying her deadly prayers, while Meliu, wielding Light and Dark, overcomes guards to open the northern gate’s portcullis, despite a crossbow wound and brutal resistance. Sedut’s timely intervention saves Meliu from a fatal blow, and the Silone charge through the gate, engaging in battle. Meliu, earning her twelfth scar, and Sedut, reveling in their shared prowess, prepare to join the fight. The chapter blends cunning deception, visceral combat, and supernatural power, highlighting Ivin’s strategic gambit, Meliu’s resilience, and Sedut’s lethal precision as the Silone seize a critical crossing, defying Duke Ovrin’s expectations of their demise.
