In Holvin Dô-ar, a city partially in ruins yet renowned for its neutral Sun Forge, Solineus meets Âemêsu, a seasoned smith from Molikîn, to whom he entrusts his need for a shield—one extraordinary enough to justify his presence at the Forge. As he navigates the city’s customs and the Forge’s strict neutrality, Solineus proposes the creation of a legendary Singing Shield, banking on the Ironwing’s treasury to cover its cost. Amid political intrigue, the weight of his past, and the purr of a stubborn cat named Tongs, Solineus settles in to await his shield and his next move westward toward the mysterious lands of the Ilû-Strono Plains and the Helebôm cities.
