Emerging into Kaludor’s fiery daylight, Ieru learns from Eliles that the eternal flames, summoned via the Sliver of Star artifact, protect the island from Shadows of Man—demons unleashed by Lord Priest Ulrikt’s failed ritual at Istinjoln Monastery. They visit the garden, meeting vintner Artus Choerkin, where Ieru savors grapes amid talk of deceptive Faces and the reclusive Ivin Choerkin. Spotting dragon wings slicing through the flames, Ieru retreats to Skywatch, intrigued by her discoveries. Shifting to Eliles’ perspective, she debates the coincidences with Artus, refusing to inform Ivin of Ieru due to unresolved feelings.
