: Glimdrem, anticipating a grand trial, is met with a stark proceeding led by Inslok, Limereu, Fesele, and Minister of Justice Respedelu, who will choose between two undisclosed sentences for his theft of the Oxeum Codex and inflammatory rhetoric. Defiant, Glimdrem compares Trelelunin to Berul’s domesticated pigs, arguing that, like pigs reverting to wild boars, Trelelunin are Edan who lost their glow outside the Eleris, challenging the narrative that lost Edan entered the Father Wood. His passionate plea, laced with insults and accusations of Edan complacency, elicits no emotional response from Inslok, who asserts Glimdrem’s ignorance of Edan essence. Sentenced to banishment with a week to gather followers, Glimdrem plans to sail to Sutan via Anduras and Kutu, seeking allies and a mythical risen Ôxêum, spurred by the vine’s call to kill enemies. Aboard the Flaming Wing, Inslok intercepts him, offering a chance to enter Sarlean’s Elerean to confirm his Edan origins. At the cave, voices—including the Touched’s and Ilsferu’s—tempt Glimdrem with answers and love, but he rejects the Father Wood, valuing sharable truths and freedom. Returning to his ships, Glimdrem sails as a free man, his rebellion solidified, aiming to forge a new destiny for the Trelelunin, unburdened by Edan dogma but driven by unresolved questions and the vine’s influence.
