ToP Chapter 74

Chapter Seventy-Four: The Weight of Golden Feathers

Solineus returns to Molikîn as a celebrated hero, greeted by jubilant crowds waving golden griffon feather banners, his success as the "Survivor of Hîmr’s Breath" sparking a three-day festival. At the Third Throne, he presents Hîmr’s Coin to King Sînhôlar and Queen Nisenî, revealing Seblêsu’s theft of its detachable backside during the Arumbor feast. The royals, suspecting a hidden message or map within the coin, note its unique design among Pîlôstar’s tokens, with ancient God Wars symbols potentially holding cryptic meaning. They task Solineus and Morik to track Seblêsu, a Barkûsh priestess, possibly to consult scholar Tulstenar of Hedridôk, and recover the coin’s half, authorizing lethal force if needed. The Ironwing bestows griffon-feather cloaks, dubbing them Mîhemnar Il-lestir (men of the holy griffon), ensuring access to Tulstenar. Solineus learns of the Kingdomers’ pigeon-messaging system from Tôltô, the Pigeon-master, receiving a letter from Kinesee detailing her studies, Alu’s wedding preparations, Ivin’s castle construction, and Lelishen’s arrival with Yolilcoz woodkin. A pigeon from Hervesh confirms Seblêsu’s southwest path along the Urzin Trail with five companions, prompting Solineus and Morik to prepare for pursuit.
