Meliu, having endured days of pain and confinement beneath a wardrobe on the Archer’s Eye, harnesses the powers of Light and Dark to escape her bonds and seize control of the boat. Overcoming the effects of Cloud Water, she unleashes Kibole’s Dark, driving the Tek crew to madness and death, sparing only those who submit, including Loduma Ar-Bdein. Forcing Loduma to free Ivin Choerkin and his Ilu-Silvstro ally, Nostrolum, Meliu asserts dominance, threatening the crew with psychological torment to ensure compliance as they head to Gomjon. Ivin, awed by Meliu’s power, secures the cabin, while Nostrolum, bonding over whiskey, joins him in rummaging through Loduma’s possessions, finding a fine arming sword. Exhausted, Meliu rests, leaving Ivin and Nostrolum to guard their newfound control, wary of the cowed crew and the uncertainties of their destination. The chapter showcases Meliu’s transformation from captive to commanding priestess, blending divine power, strategic deception, and the forging of uneasy alliances amidst a backdrop of fear and impending conflict.
