= Chapter Thirty-Seven: Spilling Shadows = In Chapter 37, "Spilling Shadows," Solineus, accompanied by Inslok, Glimdrem, Rinold, and Trelelunin warriors, journeys through the Omindi Pass to Istinjoln Monastery, guided by Zjin of the Colok, who was directed to Solineus by Eliles’ spectral message. At Istinjoln, the group encounters an eerie, snow-covered silence, with the Celestial Gate’s beam of light—marked by a mysterious black bar—still active. Inslok studies the gate, noting its uniqueness and timing the emergence of Shadows of Man, which Solineus dispatches with the Twins. As dozens of Shadows gather, a massive, non-humanoid Shadow, dubbed "Marukane" by Zjin, emerges, displaying formidable power and killing a Trelelunin warrior. The creature, recognizing Inslok, demands their departure, sparing Solineus, Glimdrem, Zjin, and another Colok for unknown reasons. Solineus, guided by the ghost of Dareun, confronts the demon, severing its tongue and horn, and Dareun’s intervention frees the group from a trance-like state. Escorted by Shadows, they retreat, with Inslok vowing to return and destroy the creature once he recalls its nature. Solineus learns from Dareun that Eliles thrives on Herald’s Watch, wielding great power, while Inslok remains cryptic about the term "Marukane" and his plans, leaving Solineus wary of future threats as Taken and Shadows watch their departure from Istinjoln’s gates. The chapter blends tension, supernatural mystery, and uneasy alliances, highlighting the persistent danger of the Celestial Gate and its enigmatic inhabitants. * [[ToP Chapter 36]] — Clouded River * [[ToP Chapter 38]] — The HIdden Child * [[Trail of Pyres]] - Main Chapter Listing [[Category:Solineus]] [[Category:Inslok]] [[Category:Glimdrem]] [[Category:Rinold]] [[Category:Zjin]] [[Category:Lumnol]] [[Category:Nilustro]] [[Category:Bensevu]] [[Category:Henmet]] [[Category:Havinlero]] [[Category:Dareun]] [[Category:Eliles Mention]] [[Category:Iku Mention]] [[Category:Lelishen Mention]] [[Category:Ilpen Mention]] [[Category:Istinjoln]] [[Category:Omindi Pass]] [[Category:Ambush Chokes Mention]] [[Category:Vale of Resting Winds Mention]] [[Category:Shrine of Burdenis Mention]] [[Category:Eleris Mention]] [[Category:ToP Chapters]]
