Editing ToP Chapter 20

Solineus, struggling to devise an offer for the Edan to secure Silone asylum, considers sacrificing his Twin swords but is skeptical of their interest. Lelishen introduces Glimdrem, who examines the Twins, marveling at their seamless Ikoruv-Latcu alloy, a God Wars-era feat, and confirms their Celestial spirits, though their exact nature eludes him. Glimdrem’s mention of the Oxeum Codex—a lost book tied to Uvin’s fatal ritual—sparks Solineus’s idea to leverage the Touched’s library, prompting him to propose guiding the Edan to it, sweetened by offering Lelishen’s book of unreadable prophecies. At the Crowning Tree, Inslok dismisses the library offer, citing Lelishen’s prior vow, but Lelishen threatens to resign, forcing the Edan’s hand.

Glimdrem, despite his disdain for Solineus, volunteers to join the expedition, and Inslok, swayed by unexpected compassion, supports the mission, with Limereu offering to negotiate with the Hidreng. The Edan agree to consider the proposal, virtually ensuring safe passage for the Silone, though Glimdrem’s resentment and hope for Solineus’s failure linger. The victory, orchestrated by Lelishen’s defiance and Limereu’s subtle influence, positions Solineus to secure aid, but the looming journey to the Touched and the Codex’s mystery hint at further challenges.
