Nicôdî tû Dêidontâ, chilled despite his Elemental Fire, meets Isidorus, probing the cigar box’s mystery. Isidorus reveals its donu-honêsh, surprising Nicôdî, who secures her claim to the *Soaring Falcon* in exchange. She questions the Compunêu Trade Consortium, and Nicôdî confirms their existence, hinting at vengeful kin. Learning Poleen and Ezeldu are in the Lobster Trap, Nicôdî declines to intervene, instructing Sûnugar’s wisp to watch Poleen, suspecting her survival will reveal other players—possibly the Notoholis, Berjer, Boborun lords, or Compunêu—in the donu-honêsh game. He ponders the drug’s unexpected value, realizing Poleen’s entanglement holds deeper secrets tied to Ezeldu’s actions, as he guards the indilus roots, poised to unravel the conspiracy.
