= Chapter Twelve: A Lady of Means = Poleen Juvukis, as Contessa PolĂȘnu JuvilĂȘus, hones her swordplay with Master VoluhĂźn ChubĂąn at the Rainbow and Swan, awaiting a meeting with MontĂȘusarĂą SerelĂȘ tĂ» MoltĂŽlboc. After a month, SandorelĂȘ arranges it at the inn, but SerelĂȘ demands the cigar box, revealing the indilus rootsâ need for special soil, undermining their value without it. Poleen, rattled by SerelĂȘâs knowledge, feigns disinterest and leaves with two roots. SerelĂȘâs guards seize SandorelĂȘ, prompting Poleen and ĂvorĂȘ to track them to the docks. Spotting the captain under attack, Poleen bribes Silk Devils, led by HovĂȘen tĂ» SedlĂŽmu, to intervene. Her rapier drawn, she bluffs the guards into releasing SandorelĂȘ, who confirms SerelĂȘâs fixation on the box, not the roots. Safe aboard the *Soaring Falcon*, Poleen plans to reveal the donu-honĂȘshâs secret, seeking a new buyer to free Ezeldu.
