= Chapter Fifty-Two: Talker Taken = Reeling from her failed ambush against the Yellow-Eye slavers, improvises a daring plan to confront their Crone, a powerful Breath Stealer witch. Reflecting on Solineus’s bold tactics, she desecrates a Yellow-Eye corpse to provoke the camp, urinating on it to incite outrage. As the Crone and her warriors cross the river, Meliu hides, using prayers of Light, Dark, and Life to unleash terror, killing several with Dark-induced horrors while luring others with a decoy Light. Charging the Crone, Meliu withstands arrows and the witch’s suffocating power, tackling her and enveloping them in Dark, where she confronts the Crone’s fears, including a visions of a white lion with red eyes that names Meliu “Daughter of Kibole.” Killing the Crone, Meliu heals her wounds with Life, mirroring legendary feats from the Codex of Sol, and uses Dark to rout or capture the remaining Yellow-Eyes, sparing one she dubs “Lucky.” Exhausted but triumphant, Meliu reunites with Polus, who has captured another Yellow-Eye and a boat, revealing their own skirmish. Collapsing in a canoe, Meliu dreams of the white lion, now calling her “Daughter of Erginle,” as she grapples with her divine favor and the mysterious visions, cementing her resolve to press forward despite her injuries. * [[WoG Chapter 51]] — Reunion at the Gate * [[WoG Chapter 53]] — Son in the Blinding * [[Whispers of Ghosts]] — Main Chapter Listing [[Category:Meliu]] [[Category:Polus]] [[Category:Broldun]] [[Category:Kibole]] [[Category:Erginle]] [[Category:Solineus Mention]] [[Category:Zarhôt Mention]] [[Category:White Lion Prophecy]] [[Category:WoG Chapters]]
