= Chapter Thirty-Nine: Tinder Emotions = Solineus navigates a tense pursuit by the Boboru fleet, whose red-and-white sails close in after a five-day delay inspecting the ruined Yungilêtunu temple. With winds failing, Solineus seizes the chance to send children to safety on longships toward Imukel, while his fleet lures the Boboru south to Toltûk. As water runs low and heat oppresses, Solineus grapples with Sîu’s insistence on staying by his side, her loyalty rooted in gratitude and hinted affection, despite his protests and Adinvan’s meddling approval. At Toltûk’s bustling harbor, Solineus and Sîu meet Captain Edmordô, learning the Boboru’s trade rights protect them here. When Lord Captain Ushtrûôk, a towering, snake-skinned Boboru, confronts Solineus over stolen Histê slaves, Solineus brazenly insults him, tossing a nectarine pit and claiming intent to sail for the Ôlfindarâ Islands. The standoff, watched by armed sailors and islanders, escalates tensions but ends without violence, as Solineus sows disinformation about heading to Mostul Ûbar, spreading gold and whispers to mislead Boboru spies. Amidst Sîu’s playful defiance and cryptic talk of auras, Solineus balances bravado and strategy, setting the stage for a deadly future clash with the vengeful sea vipers. * [[WoG Chapter 38]] — Bone Fingers * [[WoG Chapter 40]] — Wide Skies and Tight Spaces * [[Whispers of Ghosts]] — Main Chapter Listing [[Category:Solineus]] [[Category:Sîu]] [[Category:Adinvan]] [[Category:Edmordô]] [[Category:Nêkulû]] [[Category:Ushtrûôk]] [[Category:Yorin]] [[Category:Hîdim]] [[Category:Suseru Mention]] [[Category:Toltûk]] [[Category:Imukel Mention]] [[Category:Yungilêtunu Mention]] [[Category:Monsoon Strait]] [[Category:Gulf of Tomulok Mention]] [[Category:Ôlfindarâ Islands Mention]] [[Category:Mostul Ûbar Mention]] [[Category:Entîyu Êmoño Mention]] [[Category:Kûmjotu-kî Mention]] [[Category:WoG Chapters]]
