= Chapter One: Rain Forest Hunters = In the 505th Year of Remembered Time, Rinold, a seasoned Silone warrior, leads a party deep into a lush, perilous southern forest, three weeks south of the Rôemhîen Pass, seeking adventure and a river to name after his pregnant wife, Puxele. Accompanied by the skeptical Edlmir and the skilled Kingdomer Wayfinder Kurin, Rinold navigates a vibrant yet treacherous jungle teeming with massive trees, colorful flora, and constant animal clamor. A peculiar scent of basil and urine, initially dismissed as a flower, hints at a territorial creature, raising tensions. The group discovers a vine-covered pyramid, dubbed a "Green Mountain" by Kurin, possibly an ancient temple or ruin, sparking hopes of treasure. Their exploration is shadowed by a griffon eagle, named Hirk by Rinold, and an unseen presence that unnerves him. At dawn, Rinold’s instincts prove correct when they spot a massive, camouflaged serpent—forty paces long—stalking their camp. A desperate escape ensues, with Rinold and Kurin climbing a tree to evade the beast, only for it to pursue them with unnatural tenacity. Rinold leaps into a river, barely outswimming the serpent, and reaches a rocky outcrop, believing he’s escaped. His triumph is short-lived as a dozen topaz-eyed, nearly naked warriors, armored in wood and wielding longbows, surround him, their fiery gazes and drawn arrows signaling a new, enigmatic threat in this untamed wilderness. * [[WoG Chapter 2]] — Born of Stone * [[Whispers of Ghosts]] — Main Chapter Listing [[Category:Rinold]] [[Category:Edlmir]] [[Category:Kurin]] [[Category:Hoemulus]] [[Category:Puxele Mention]] [[Category:Ratsmasher Mention]] [[Category:Hirk Mention]] [[Category:Swimming Monkey River]] [[Category:Yudulê Omu]] [[Category:Dragonspan Mountains Mention]] [[Category:Rôemhîen Pass Mention]] [[Category:Crack of Burdenis Mention]] [[Category:WoG Chapters]]
