Dareun, a sundered ghost, watches Ulrikt plan a ritual with Sedut and Dunkol, revealing a false Sliver of Star meant to summon Sol’s hand. When Ulrikt possesses Dunkol with a Shadow, Dareun flees to awaken Solineus, guiding him to Eliles’ cell. Solineus, roused by Dareun, urges Eliles to escape as Ulrikt’s ritual begins, donning priest robes to raise the portcullis amid a reality-warping beam. Ivin and the wardens charge Istinjoln as the gates open, finding Shadows erupting from Ulrikt’s failed ritual, with Dunkol possessed and Ulrikt floating. Puxele’s arrows fail, and a massive Shadow entity breaches the sky, forcing a retreat. Solineus, Lelishen, and Ilpen join Ivin’s group, fleeing with Eliles as Shadows overrun Istinjoln, allying as Solineus (Emudar) and Ivin (Choerkin) vow to fight back with Colok aid.
